Description
The Barton is a house that has been converted into a pair of cottages, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a rough render on the rear wing and features stone tiled roofs. The building has an 'L' plan and is two storeys high. The south front has two windows, with a door positioned between two cyma-moulded mullioned windows that each have three lights, although the left side appears to have been renewed. The upper floor has casement windows in plain stone surrounds, with a single casement window on the left and a pair in a larger opening on the right. The rear wing includes a three-light hollow moulded mullion window with a hood on both floors on the east side, as well as two renewed single light windows. The north end wall features a hollow moulded upper single light and a renewed ground floor two-light window. Inside the rear wing, there are two stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
