Description

Rosewood Cottage is a house dated 1766, constructed from rubble stone with ashlar dressings and a modern plain tile roof. It features coped gables and rebuilt brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range on the front. The windows have cyma moulded mullions, with two on the first floor and a central panelled door on the ground floor set in a stone doorcase with a hood on brackets. There are inserted single light windows and outer two-light windows that are similar to those above, but possibly reset as they are not aligned with the first-floor windows. A date plaque reading "J S J 1766" is located at the centre of the first floor, and there is a continuous string course. The rear has a four-window range of cyma-moulded two-light windows. There is a small stone-tiled extension on the east end with a 20th-century bow window. The date plaque likely commemorates John and Jane Skeate.
