Description
Virginia Cottage is a house dated 1733, constructed from squared stone with cut dressings and featuring a graduated stone slate roof. The stacks have been rebuilt in white brick on their original bases. The building is two storeys high and has two bays. The entrance, located left of centre, consists of an old five-panel door with a glazed top panel. Above the door is a panel displaying the date and the name 'James Wac....'. The cottage has four-pane sash windows, and all openings, including the date panel, are framed with architraves. The gables are coped and supported by moulded kneelers, with end stacks visible. The left side of the building shows a blocked ground-floor window within an architrave. The rear elevation features a contemporary outshut with a four-pane sash stair window and several blocked openings.
Inside, there is an old decorated door plate on the front door. The staircase is a dogleg design with a closed string, turned balusters and newels, and a moulded handrail.
