Description

Milestone dated 1750 located on the east side of Grovely Road in Barford St Martin. This limestone pillar features an ogee curved top and has incised lettering on the front that reads "VI / Miles From / SARUM / 1750". The ox-drove from Wilton to Chicklade was turnpiked relatively early in the 18th century, and the route is now a track.
