Description
The Old Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of painted dressed limestone and features a thatched roof with a half hip to the left and a hip to the right, along with an axial brick stack. The building has a baffle entry plan and is a single storey with an attic, containing two windows. The entrance is a planked door located to the left of centre, sheltered by a thatched porch supported by posts. To the left of the door is a three-light casement window, while to the right are a large 19th-century two-light casement and a smaller two-light casement. The cottage also has two eyebrow dormers, one with a two-light casement and the other with a three-light casement. The left side of the cottage features a three-light casement and a two-light casement in a blocked doorway, along with two two-light casements on the first floor. At the rear, there are 20th-century extensions, one two-storey and one single-storey. The interior was not accessible during the survey in February 1986, but it is said to include an open fireplace and chamfered beams.
