Description

Milestone dated 1750 located on the south side of Ox Drove in Chilmark. This limestone pillar features an ogee-curved top and has lettering on the front that reads "XII / Miles From / SARUM / 1750." It marks the Wilton to Chicklade road, which was turnpiked around 1750.
