Description
The annexe to Chilmark Manor, originally listed as the north-west wing of the Manor, is a building that contains staff accommodation. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries and was altered in the 1970s. The structure is made of dressed limestone and features a Welsh slate roof with gable-end stacks. It is two stories high and has three windows across the front. On the ground floor, there are 20th-century doors to the left and 20th-century three-light and four-light mullioned windows to the right. The first floor has a four-light 20th-century mullioned window on either side of a three-light 20th-century mullioned window. The roof has coped verges. The right side of the building has a 20th-century external stack, while the left side features a single round-arched light on the first floor and a projecting bread oven on the ground floor. The rear of the building has 20th-century mullioned windows similar to those at the front. The interior was not accessible during the survey in March 1985, but it is reported to contain a large open fireplace and deeply-chamfered beams. The building underwent extensive renovation for its conversion to staff accommodation in the 1970s.
