Description
This building is a cottage located at the end of a row, formerly two cottages, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a thatched roof and features ashlar or brick stacks. The cottage has an L-plan layout, with the entrance situated on the left side.
The front, which faces The Street, is two stories high and has a two-window arrangement. It includes two 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors, alongside a planked door set in a chamfered stone case to the right. The left side has a planked door and a blocked door to the left, a 2-light casement window to the left, and a 1-light chamfered window to the right that is topped with a hoodmould. The first floor features a 3-light mullioned window and the attic has a 2-light mullioned window, both of which also have hoodmoulds, and there is a coped verge on the gable.
To the left, there is a two-storey wing that has 2-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, as well as a single-storey 17th-century extension with 2-light casements and outshuts. The rear of this extension includes a 3-light, a 2-light, and a 1-light recessed chamfered mullioned window, all with a continuous string course and labels. The attic of this extension has two 2-light mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in March 1985.
