Barberry is a detached cottage located in Chilmark, dating from the late 17th century to the 18th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a thatched roof and features brick stacks. The cottage has a baffle-entry design and is a single storey with an attic, containing two windows. There is a planked door on the right side of the 17th-century section, a 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned window to the left, and a 3-light casement window. To the right, in the 18th-century section, there are two 2-light casements. The attic on the left has two 2-light casements. The right side of the cottage has 2-light casements on both the ground and first floors. The left side features a half-hipped roof and an attached single-storey extension with a thatched roof. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey in March 1985.
