STOCKTON A303 ST 93 NE at ST 990 364 (north side) 7/106 Milestone GV II Milestone. Late C18. Limestone pillar with pitched top. Incised lettering to front: LXXXIX / Miles from / LONDON / XI / from / Amesbury. This section of road between Amesbury and Willoughby Hedge was turnpiked 1760-62. (VCH, Wiltshire, Vol. 4, 1959)
