Description
The Old Dairy House is a detached house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a thatched roof with coped verges, a stone stack at the right gable end, and an axial brick stack. The house is designed in a T-plan with a baffle entry and is single-storey with an attic, presenting a two-window façade.
The entrance consists of a planked door located in a thatched porch to the right of centre. To the left of the door is a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement with a hoodmould, and to the right is a three-light casement. A single-light casement illuminates the stairs to the left of the door. The attic features an eyebrow dormer on the left with a three-light mullioned casement, a full gable on the right with a two-light mullioned casement, and a single-light window above.
On the left side, there are two two-light mullioned casements on the ground floor and a three-light casement above. The rear of the house includes a central single-storey wing with a planked door and two-light mullioned casements with hoodmoulds, as well as two two-light mullioned casements on the rear of the main range to the right and a blocked window to the left. The interior was not accessible during the survey in April 1987.
