Description

This milestone, dating from the mid-18th century, is located on the turnpike road from London to Exeter, adjacent to Milestone Cottage. It is made of sandstone and features a cast iron plate. The milestone is a block measuring 1 meter high, 400 millimeters wide, and 300 millimeters thick, with a rounded top. The shaped plate displays the distances to Wincanton and Hindon, both marked as 7 miles. The milestone is set back against the wall of Milestone Cottage.
