Description

Milestone opposite Highway Cottage, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of painted stone with a cast iron plate. The milestone has a rectangular shape with a rounded top and is white-painted. The front features a plate with black lettering indicating distances: LONDON 56 and WINCHESTER 7. This milestone is located on the route of Popham Lane to Winchester Turnpike, established in 1758.
