Description

Highway Cottage is an 18th-century brick cottage located on the A33 road near Micheldever. It is a double pile building, extending three bays and with one storey. The cottage has a central door protected by a flat-roofed porch, featuring an early 19th-century timber lattice window. Either side of the door are camber-headed, three-light mullioned and transomed windows with leaded casements. Three gabled dormers are visible; the two outer dormers are larger and incorporate camber-headed, three-light leaded casements with ogee heads to the individual lights. The central dormer is smaller, with a similar two-light casement. The roof is plain tiled and hipped, with over-sailing eaves and a stack positioned on the left-hand ridge above the hip, and another stack on the right-hand hip roof.
