Description
Stratton End is a cottage dating from the 17th century, which was enlarged in 1880 by Ernest Newton. It features a timber frame with colour-washed brick infill and a thatched roof. The building has a T-shaped layout, consisting of a three-bay 17th-century house with a projecting 19th-century bay in the center, which is two stories high. Each of the left and right bays has a 10th-century oak-headed mullioned window on both floors. The 19th-century front wing includes a large four-light oriel window on the first floor and has a scantling timber frame. The roof is steeply pitched and has a cruciform brick stack at the center where the ridges meet, with tiled valleys.
