Description

Shepherds Close is a farmhouse that has been converted into three cottages. It dates back to the 17th century, with early 19th-century extensions. The original structure is timber-framed with brick infill and additions, featuring a thatched roof on the 17th-century part and tiled roofs on the later sections. The building consists of three bays, including a smoke bay, and is two storeys tall with an attic.

To the right, there is a two-bay addition from the 19th century, and to the left, a 1½ storey bay was added in the same period. The left bay includes a porch on the right, a three-light casement window to the left, and a two-light gabled dormer above. The left bay of the original frame has a three-light casement with a two-light casement above it, along with a single light window on both floors of the smoke bay. The next bay features a 20th-century porch on the left with a 20th-century window above, while the rest of this bay and the right bay have a 20th-century rendered asbestos-roofed outshot, which includes a two-light eyebrow dormer in thatch.

The right addition has a two-light casement window on each floor to the left and a 20th-century porch on the right. The thatched roof is hipped to the left, with a large stack above the smoke bay, a stack at the right end of the 17th-century building, and another stack at the left end.
