Description
Glebe House is a house that is attached to a former school, with possible origins in the 17th century but mainly dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and has a plain tile roof. The building is L-shaped, with the main front featuring a door that is off centre to the right and a lower wing at the rear left. It has two storeys and four windows. On the ground floor, there is a large 20-pane sash window and a small 16-pane sash window to the left of the door, followed by paired 16-pane sashes to the right. The first floor has four 20-pane sashes. The entrance features a flush 6-panel door that is part-glazed and is sheltered by a timber hood. All the sashes have flush boxes, and some straight joints in the walling suggest the earliest forms of openings. The gable ends have brick stacks. The left side of the house has a canted bay with 8:12:8-pane sashes and an 8-pane fixed window on the ground floor, with a 3-light steel casement above. The wing has a 3-light window below and 2-light leaded early casements; there is a 20th-century lean-to porch and doors under a 2-light half dormer. Beyond the house is an outbuilding with a double Roman tile roof.
