Description
The Memorial Cross to Julia Elizabeth Chafyn-Grove is a monument in the form of a churchyard cross, erected in 1904 to honor Julia Elizabeth Chafyn-Grove, who died in 1891. It features a limestone base, a sandstone shaft, and a calvary. The structure has a square base with three steps that supports a tall square plinth with shouldered cornices. The main shaft is tapered and octagonal, transitioning to a square base, and it features a well-crafted carved calvary on the reverse side with pointed aedicules. An inscription is located on the east face of the plinth. This cross is a well-proportioned and skillfully executed interpretation of a medieval church cross used as a monument.
