ST 8032-8132 MERE CHURCH STREET (west side) 6/36 6.1.66 St Ann's

GV II Detached house on street corner (to Church Lane). Possibly C17 origin, but detail mainly later Cl9. Small coursed limestone rubble, flush Chilmark stone quoins, some brick dressings to Church Lane frontage, plain tile roof. A parallel block structure, the front block facing church, hipped at right end, and with masonry of different build in first two bays from third; two storeys, 2 + 1 windows, all 6-pane margin-bar sashes. Cl9 fielded 6-panel door, 2 glazed, under flat canopy to brackets set between windows 2 and 3, possibly to an original cross passage. Two brick stacks to left gable, and to left of doorway. To Church Lane 2 hipped ends, valley runs back centrally, 4 window to segmental heads. Late Cl9 back wing has various segmental-headed windows and a bay window. Left return is plain. Interior not inspected.
