Description

The Old Rectory is a semi-detached house that was originally part of a rectory, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone, with some areas rendered, and features a hipped tiled roof. The building has stone and brick stacks with moulded cappings located at the south gable end and in an axial position.

The east front is two-storeys high with three windows. There is a 19th-century gabled brick porch and a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement window to the left, while to the right is a four-panelled door and a tripartite 12-pane sash window. On the first floor, there is a three-light mullioned casement and two 12-pane sash windows.

The left side of the building features a 20th-century flat-roofed entrance porch with a three-light mullioned casement to the left, an external stack with a 16-pane sash window to the right, and a two-light casement window to the left. At the rear, there is a 19th-century porch with a Tudor-arched doorway and sidelights, two two-light casements to the right, and a single-light casement to the left. The first floor has two-light and four-light 20th-century casements and a two-light mullioned casement to the left, along with two hipped attic dormers featuring two-light casements. The interior was not accessible during the survey in March 1987. For further details about the rest of the house, refer to No 2 (The Old Rectory) on Church Lane.
