Description
Abbey Cottage is a detached house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed, squared stone, with the right end of the front being white and a stone-slate roof. The building consists of a three-room main section and a one-room wing that forms an 'L' shape, all standing two and a half storeys high and one room deep.
The main front faces the church and features a three-light mullioned window on the right, alongside a boarded door that has a circular light at the top, a chamfered arris, and an arched head. There is also a 20th-century single-light window, another boarded door with a stone lintel, and another three-light mullioned window. Above these, there are three two-light mullioned windows, with the center window being from the 20th century. The gables have parapets, and there are ashlar chimneys with moulded caps located on the ridge at both ends and between the doors. The chimney breast projects on the left return and sets back to the wall before reaching the ridge.
Originally two houses, Abbey Cottage was reconverted into a single dwelling in 1986. It forms a group with the adjacent church.
