Description

62 and 63 Didbrook are two semi-detached cottages that date from the 15th, 18th, and 19th centuries, with alterations made in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame, featuring infilled stone and brick at the front, and rendered panels on the right side, with coursed, squared stone. They have a stone slate roof and are arranged as two bays over one and a half stories, likely with two rooms in depth.

The front elevation facing the road has a random rubble plinth and timber-framed panels that reach the height of the storey, supported by long braces from the main posts to the sill. The lower part is filled with stone, while the upper part is brick. There is a half-glazed door located off-centre to the left, accessed by one concrete step, with remnants of a porch roof above. Flanking the door are late 20th-century mullion and transom windows with leaded lights. The roof features two gabled dormers, each with two-light casement windows, one of which retains its original iron frame. A stone and brick ridge chimney is positioned centrally.

On the right return, there are wavy crucks, with only the original sill remaining at the ends. A stone sill wall has been built up to a higher level between the late 20th-century additions. The left side has a wall post, while the right side shows the stone of the rear elevation. In the centre, there is a half-glazed door where a former lean-to porch has been removed. The structure includes two collars, close-set studs below and between, and a single panel above with a yoke just below the ridge, along with blocking pieces for purlins. The original building featured lower eaves.

The interior has not been inspected.
