Description

This is an early 19th-century detached cottage located in Dilton Marsh. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with rubble stone returns, and has a pantiled roof with gable end brick stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has two windows on each floor. A central six-panelled door is sheltered by a flat wooden hood supported on brackets, with sixteen-pane sash windows either side. The first floor has two further sixteen-pane sashes, and the eaves are defined by a distinctive toothed brick course. An outhouse with a planked door is attached to the right-hand return. The cottage represents a good, unaltered example of a house type common in Dilton Marsh.
