Description
No. 164, known as Abbotsbury, is an early 19th-century building located on the north-west side of Westbury Leigh. It is two storeys high and features a hipped slate roof. The front facing the road is made of ashlar stone and includes a plinth, a band over the ground floor, a moulded cornice, and a parapet. There are two windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, all of which are glazing bar sashes set in segmental-headed arches with panels below. There is a blocked opening on the ground floor to the left of the centre.
The return front to the left is constructed of coursed and dressed rubble, with ashlar quoins and quoined dressings, and has three glazing bar sash windows on the first floor. A central door is located under a 20th-century verandah with a corrugated iron lean-to cover. The garden wall to the south-west rises with the slope of the land, reaching a height of about 7 to 10 feet over a distance of approximately 17 yards. It is built of rubble and features an entrance adjacent to the house, complete with a cast iron overthrow above a ledged door.
