Description
The Old Manse is a semi-detached house located on the south side of High Street in Dilton Marsh, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of English bond brick and features a mansard tiled roof with fishscale tiles on the lower pitch, along with gable end brick stacks. The building is two stories high with an attic and has three windows across its facade.
The central entrance consists of an 8-panelled door topped with a segmental arch and a keystone. Flanking the door are two 12-pane sash windows, each also featuring segmental heads with keystones. There is a three-brick painted plat band at the first floor level, above which is a central sash window with a pair of sashes on either side. A stone plat band marks the brick blocking course, and the lower pitch of the mansard roof includes three 12-pane sash windows.
On the right side of the building, there is a 2-light casement window on the ground floor and a single light window in the attic. Attached to the rear are single-storey outbuildings. The interior was not accessible during the survey in June 1986, but it is reported to contain original joinery, fireplaces, and a staircase.
