Description

This milestone, located about 100 metres north-east of Kemps Barn, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a pitched top. The front of the pillar has incised lettering that reads: SARUM / 17 / HINDON / I. This milestone marks the road from Salisbury to Willoughby Hedge via Hindon, which was turnpiked between 1760 and 1762.
