Description

This is a milestone dating from the late 18th century, located approximately 150 meters west of the junction with Baverstock Lane on the south side of Hindon Road in Dinton. The milestone is made of limestone and features a pitched top with incised lettering on the front that reads: SARUM / VIII / HINDON / VIII. This indicates the distances to Salisbury and Hindon. The road was turnpiked between 1760 and 1762.
