Description
This milestone, located about 50 meters west of Dinton First School, dates from the late 18th century. It is made of limestone and features a pitched top with incised lettering on the front that reads: SARUM / IX / HINDON / VII. The milestone marks the distance from Salisbury and Hindon, indicating that the road to East Knoyle was turnpiked between 1760 and 1762.
