Description

Milestone located about 250 meters east of the west drive to Hurdcott House. This milestone dates from the late 18th century and is made of limestone with a pitched top. It features incised lettering on the front that reads: SARUM / VII / HINDON / IX, although the lettering was partly sunk at the time of the survey. This milestone marks the turnpiked road from Salisbury to East Knoyle, which was established between 1760 and 1762.
