Description

Milestone opposite Grovely Road, dating from the late 18th century, is a limestone pillar with a pitched top. It features incised lettering on the front that reads: SARUM / VI / HINDON / X. This milestone marks the distance from Salisbury to the East Knoyle road, which was turnpiked between 1760 and 1762.
