Description
Barford Forge is a semi-detached house that was originally two cottages, dating back to the 17th century. The building features painted dressed limestone and timber-framing with brick nogging, topped by a half-hipped thatched roof and a brick axial stack. The entrance is located on the left side of the building.
The house is two stories high and has three windows, all of which are small-paned with glazing bars. The ground floor facing the road has three 2-light casements, with two of them located in blocked doorways on the left. The timber-framed section on the right has a 2-light casement, and there is a catslide roof over the former forge, which now has 20th-century casements. An eyebrow dormer on the left side features a 2-light casement, while there is another 2-light casement in the timber-framed section and a raking dormer on the right.
The left side of the building has a 20th-century gabled porch and additional 2-light casements. At the rear, there is a single-storey 20th-century extension with a hipped roof, 2-light casements, and eyebrow dormers. Inside, the property is said to have two back-to-back open fireplaces and chamfered beams.
