Description

The Sims memorial is a chest tomb located about 9 metres south of the north gates to the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael in Melksham. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a plinth, with the north side displaying two hexagonal fielded panels, while the south side has two fielded shield panels. These are separated by fielded pilasters, which also appear at the corners. The memorial is topped with a pulvinated frieze and a corniced top. It commemorates Robert Sims, who died in 1771.
