Description

House. Dating from around the 16th century to the mid-18th century, the building is constructed of squared rubble stone with a stone slate roof, hipped to the right. It comprises two distinct parts: an 18th-century block of two storeys and an attic, containing two windows, and an earlier single-storey range to the left, also with two windows and attic dormers. The entrance door is located to the left of the 18th-century block, featuring a six-panelled door within a cyma moulded architrave, topped with a flat stone hood supported by scroll brackets with acanthus leaf decoration. A three-light wooden casement window is situated to the right of the door. The first floor of the 18th-century block has a two-light and a three-light cyma mullioned window. A moulded eaves cornice with a panelled blocking course runs along the top of the building. A 20th-century hipped dormer is visible on the roof. The right return side has four two-light cyma mullioned windows, accompanied by the same blocking course above the eaves cornice. An inserted ground-floor door with margin lights has been added. The left-hand range has two three-light cyma mullioned windows, with one blocked five-light beaded mullioned window positioned between them. The low-pitched roof over this range features two five-light wooden casement windows within hipped dormers. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance door has fielded panelling dating back to the early 18th century. The room to the left of the door contains deep, chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and a large stone Tudor-style fireplace with roll moulding. The single-storey range to the left incorporates two cruck trusses, originally forming an open hall.
