Description
Nos 2 and 4 Hare and Hounds Street is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic and cellars. It is constructed of brick on a projecting plinth with splayed stone capping and features stone quoins. Above the ground floor windows, there is a splayed string course, and the building has a moulded stone eaves cornice. The gable end has a modern pantile roof, and there are two rebuilt sash dormers.
On the first floor, there are four windows, which alternate between paired and single sashes. These windows are slightly recessed, have intact glazing bars, and are set in moulded frames with painted stone surrounds. The ground floor features two tripartite sash windows in moulded frames, also with intact glazing bars and block sills. There are two doors; the door of No 2 is slightly narrower and has five panels, three of which are glazed, with the top panel featuring an interlaced curved pattern. Both doors are set in plain stone surrounds beneath flat hoods supported by cut brackets. Additionally, there are cellar gratings.
Nos 2 to 26 (even) form a group.
