Description
Nos 4 and 6 Tuthill is an 18th-century house that was divided in the early 19th century. The building has two storeys and a basement, constructed from rendered brick. It features a steeply pitched gable end roof covered with old pantiles and has shallow flat eaves supported by small paired brackets. There are two dormers and four windows on the front, which are early 19th-century recessed sashes with intact glazing bars and flat stucco arches. The basement windows are framed sashes.
The entrance is framed by paired wood pilasters and thin console brackets, topped with a moulded cornice that has Doric drops. The doors consist of six fielded panels and are accompanied by a rectangular fanlight. Access to the entrance is via seven steps. At the rear of No 4, there is a tall two-storey wing with one window on each floor and a rendered external chimney stack. No 6 also has a two-storey wing, featuring a single sash window on the first floor and paired sashes on the ground floor, both with intact glazing bars. Nos 4 to 8 (even) form a group.
