Description
No. 9 Tuthill is an early to mid 18th century house that underwent early 19th century alterations to its front. The building has two storeys and is rendered, featuring chamfered stone quoins. Due to the sloping site, the lower storey is at the rear. It has a steeply pitched gable end roof covered with old pantiles and includes one dormer.
On the first floor, there is one flush framed sash window without glazing bars and a very small casement window to the right. The ground floor features a flush framed sash window with vertical glazing bars only. To the right, there is a modern glazed door with a rectangular fanlight, and to the left, a six-panel door in a plain wood case.
Inside, the ground floor front room boasts a massive chimney piece, possibly made of oak, with a bolection moulded surround, a moulded projecting mantle, and a rectangular overmantel panel divided by three panelled uprights, topped with a moulded cornice. The sides of the chimney breast are also panelled.
All the listed buildings on the south side form a group.
