Description

Milestone located 400 metres east of the Ridgeway in West Overton, dating from the 18th century. It is made of painted stone and features a triangular shaft with a lozenge-shaped top panel. The painted inscriptions read "MARLBORO' 4" on the left and "CALNE 8" on the right. The top face displays "London 79," while the legend at the foot is not visible. This milestone also includes a benchmark.
