Description

This 18th-century cottage is situated in the village centre of East Kennett, facing the street. It is built of diaper brick with a sarsen sill, topped with a thatched roof and sarsen gables. The cottage originally had four bays, but an additional bay of squared sarsen has been added, now used as a farm office. A six-panelled door is located in the second bay. The original cambered-headed window openings have been altered and now contain stone-framed windows, most of whose mullions have been replaced with 19th-century casement timber windows with bead-moulded arrises. A blocked door and window, the latter above, are visible at the east end, opposite the main stack. The added east end bay features a 20th-century half-glazed door and small-paned cast iron framed windows.
