Description
The Old Bakery is a cottage dating from the early 18th century, located on the north side of Avebury High Street. It is constructed of whitewashed sarsen stone and has been extended with blockwork at both ends. The building features a thatched roof and is a single storey with an attic, comprising five bays. The original structure consists of three bays with a central entrance and gable stacks, while the extensions, one bay each, were added in the 20th century. The central entrance has a half-glazed door topped by a 19th-century gabled hood supported by brackets. The windows include paired 12-pane sashes and sliding casements in the centre, along with three flush dormers. The windows in the extensions are paned. The building has brick stacks, with the thatch hipped over the left extension and a tiled single-storey extension on the right bay.
