Description
Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located in the centre of East Kennett village. The building is constructed of sarsen stone and has a tiled roof. It originally comprised three bays, with a later cross wing added to the east that extends four bays to the front and one to the rear. The farmhouse features a central through hall with a parlour to the right. The left bay contains a large chimney stack on the front wall, now located within the dining room of the wing. A timber front door has moulded cover pieces and an ovolo moulded frame, bearing the inscription “AN.D.1630.IS.IB” on the lintel. A late 18th-century bracketed canopy with stone jambs adorns the door. Ovolo moulded stone windows are found throughout, and many have label mouldings. The first north bay of the wing was built or refaced in the 18th century using diaper brick, with a south bay added in the 19th century, both featuring similar moulded windows. The central bay of the original house was extended to the rear in the 20th century, incorporating a reset window. Stone stacks are present on the original building, with additional stacks added to the west and north gables. An added porch is located on the east side.
