Description
The building at 38 and 38A Fore Street dates from the early to mid-19th century, approximately 1840. It is constructed of Bath ashlar and features a slightly curved street frontage that aligns with number 37. The building includes corner piers, a moulded cornice, a parapet with a coping, and a low-pitched slate roof. The second floor has three single-hung sash windows with glazing bars; these windows have been slightly altered and are set within triangular-headed surrounds on the first floor. A modern shop front is present. A small, triangular, two-story extension to the west, number 38A, includes a first-floor sash window with glazing bars and a mid-19th century shop front with a dentil cornice to the ground floor. Numbers 37 to 44, number 38A, and numbers 46 to 48 form a group with number 13 Church Walk. Number 43 in the group is of local interest.
