Description

CORSHAM THE LINLEYS (B 3353) ST 86 NE 3/252 No 7 (Little Linleys) and No 8 II

Two houses, C17 and late C18, formerly several cottages. C17 range is mostly No 7 and small part of No 8, the major part of No 8 is C18 and altered, of lesser interest. Original range is rubble stone with stone tile roofs, low one and a half storeys, enclosing 3 sides of a small court. Three sections: to right, 'L'-plan with gable to road, 2-light ovolo-moulded first floor window in gable end, 2-light window to south side and door in angle, return has south end stack, blocked door with hoodmould and casements at eaves. Two-light ovolo-moulded windows with hoodmoulds to rear. Adjoining section has dormer gable, 2-light recessed cyma-moulded window each floor and door to left. Rear roughcast gabled stair tower. Third section, parallel to road, has dormer gable to street side, 3-light ovolo-moulded window to rear. Main range of No 8 has some flush cyma-moulded mullion windows, 2 blocked doors to road and whitewashed garden front with 2 casement pairs above, central 2-light window below with doors each side.
