Description

Nos. 6 and 7 Silver Street are a pair of houses built in 1710 and the mid-18th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and feature stone tiled roofs, coped gables, end wall stacks, and a ridge stack. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic.

No. 7, which is on the left and dated 1710 above the door, has a three-window range of recessed cyma-moulded windows, with two 2-light windows on each floor. The door is set in a flush moulded surround with a single light window above it. There are dripcourses over both floors, with a stepped design above the door. An attic window on the end wall has been blocked. The house has a rear wing.

No. 6, on the right, also features a three-window range, with three upper 2-light windows—two of which are bead-moulded and one that is flush cyma-moulded. The ground floor includes a 2-light window and a 3-light recessed cyma-moulded window, both with dripstones, along with a central door in a flush moulded surround that also has a dripstone. There is a single-storey end addition with a half-hipped gable.

A 20th-century addition that was formerly the Gastard Post Office at the end of No. 7 is not considered of special interest.
