Description
Lanes End Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century and was extended and remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof, featuring two ridge stacks and an east end stack. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and consists of two storeys and an attic. The front range shows evidence of several construction phases in the stonework and indicates that the roof has been raised. The symmetrical early 19th-century arrangement includes two 12-pane windows on the first floor and two large 6-pane sash windows on the ground floor, flanking a central door. This door is set in a Tudor-arched frame within a Regency doorcase that has reeded pilasters and a shallow cornice. To the right, there is an addition from the 18th century, which likely served as a dairy and cheese room. This section has one upper casement window with flush voussoirs and two small openings at ground level, also featuring similar voussoirs.
