Description
The Church of St John the Baptist is an Anglican parish church built in 1912 by C.E. Ponting. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a stone-tiled roof. The church has a west tower, and the nave and chancel are covered by a continuous roof with a coped east gable and a cross finial. The architectural style is Free Perpendicular Gothic.
The squat, two-stage west tower has flush quoins and a pointed arched west door. Above the door is a dripcourse at the bell-stage, with a three-light segmental-pointed west window featuring a hoodmould. An upper dripcourse runs under the parapet, which is slightly gabled to the west and east. There are outside stairs on the south side leading to the bell-chamber.
The nave contains four two-light flat-headed windows separated by flat buttresses, with moulded eaves between them. The chancel is narrower and has taller walls, featuring one three-light window on the north side, a three-light pointed window on the east side, and a south side porch that projects beyond the nave wall, with its roof continued down over the porch. The interior has not been inspected.
