Description

No. 10 The Linleys is a house dating from the late 17th century and 18th century, built of rubble stone with stone tiled roofs. It has two storeys and features a main range at the rear with a west end stack, alongside a longer parallel range facing the street that has three gables and a wing extending east. The south front, which overlooks the garden, has three dormer gables with 2-light mullion windows and hoodmoulds, as well as two recessed ovolo-moulded windows and one recessed cyma-moulded window. The ground floor includes a 20th-century door, a 2-light recessed hollow-moulded window with a hoodmould, and a 4-light 20th-century window.

The east end has a truncated stack and an upper 2-light recessed cyma-moulded window with a hoodmould. The west end features a wing that projects to the north, with 20th-century windows on the west end and the west side of the wing, one of which replaced a 19th-century shop window. The gable facing the road is blank, while the second gable to the left has a first-floor 2-light recessed cyma-moulded window with a hoodmould. The third gable to the left has a similar upper window and a ground floor with a similar 2-light window and a single light window beneath a renewed hoodmould. The range continues east with a side wall stack and a one-window range of 18th-century two-light flush cyma-moulded windows with ashlar panels below. There is also a low Bridgwater-tiled outbuilding at the east end.
