Description
No. 6 Bences Lane is a house from the early 18th century, constructed of rubble stone with a stone tiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring an 'L'-shaped plan. The north gable faces the road and is topped with a coped saddle stone, while the north-east corner has a stack. The building has flush quoins and drip courses above the ground and first floors. The windows are flush cyma-moulded, with a two-light window in the attic, two two-light windows on the first floor, and a four-light window on the ground floor. There is a 19th-century dormer on the west side. The rear section includes a ridge stack and a coped west gable with a saddle stone. On the north side, there is a 20th-century door and a blocked door. The south front is roughcast and features two dormers, two two-light mullion windows on the first floor, and a two-light and a three-light mullion window on the ground floor. All windows are flush cyma-moulded, except for the left one on the first floor, which is recessed and ovolo-moulded, possibly suggesting earlier origins. Between No. 6 and No. 8, there is a single-storey link with a stone tiled roof, containing two doors and three small 19th-century windows, which house outhouses.
