Description
No 26 Church Street is a detached cottage that has been converted into a restaurant. It dates from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of rubblestone and features a stone slate roof with coped verges, as well as a saddlestone and an ashlar stack with a moulded cap. It has a gable end facing the street and is two storeys high with two windows.
The entrance door, which is now located on the right side of the building, is a 20th-century addition. To the right of the entrance, there is a casement window, while the first floor has a 2-light cyma-mullioned window to the right and a sash window in a chamfered case to the left. The gable end has a pair of 4-pane sash windows in a beaded case with a central mullion on the ground floor, and above, there is one 4-pane sash window in a beaded case. The left side of the building features a central door in a chamfered case with a 2-light cyma-mullioned window to the left, and the first floor has another 2-light cyma-mullioned window.
The interior has not been inspected. There is a single-storey extension at the rear, which has blocked and inserted windows. This building is included for its group value with No 32, as both may have been associated with the wool industry, along with No 34.
