Description
No 44 High Street is a semi-detached cottage dating from the 18th century, with possible earlier elements. It is constructed of ham stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a thatched roof that abuts to the east and is hipped to the west, along with a truncated brick chimney stack. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with two bays.
On the ground floor, the first bay contains a three-light chamfer-mullioned window set in a chamfered recess with a label above. There is a blocked opening in the second bay, and to the left of the first bay, there is a 19th-century part-glazed door framed by a beaded ashlar surround. The first floor features a three-light and a two-light horizontal-bar casement window. The west side is plain, and there is an extension at the rear. The interior has not been seen. No 45 is attached on the west side.
