Description

Little Orchard is a semi-detached house dating from the 18th century or possibly earlier. It is constructed of coursed rubble Ham stone with a Welsh slate roof, the high coped gables suggesting a former thatched roof. Brick chimney stacks are located at the ends and in between the bays. The house has two storeys and four bays. Windows are leaded casements; bay 1 has a 2-light window, bay 3 has a window with a small square 2-storey arrangement of 1 + 3 + 1 lights, and bay 4 has small-pane casements on both levels. Bay 2 on the ground floor contains a 6-fielded panel door with a toplight, set within a moulded timber architrave with a moulded hood supported on wrought-iron brackets. The interior is said to contain wattle and daub partitions and a cruck-type roof frame.
